Binswanger Enterprises Scholarship
Applications may be submitted January through April 3, 2017, for the Binswanger Enterprises Scholarship Fund awards.
What is the fund?
The fund was established in memory of Mr. Sam E. Binswanger, former Chairman of the Board, by the contributions of hundreds of his fellow employees, friends, and the company. The Fund continues to grow from donations from employees, branch Coke funds, and friends. Contributions are tax-deductible. The Fund provides $1,000 scholarship awards to deserving young people each year. This money must be used in furthering their education or training, which may be vocational, professional, or otherwise.
Who can qualify?
The Binswanger Enterprises Scholarship Fund offers scholarships for post-secondary undergraduate education for legally dependent children of regular, full-time employees of Binswanger Enterprises who have completed at least one year of service with the company.
Applicants must be under 25 years old and full time students enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours of classes. Awards will be based on: academic excellence (55%), leadership/activities (15%), employment (15%), and financial need (15%).
How may the scholarship funds be used?
The awards must be used to pay for tuition and school expenses for post-high school courses in accredited trade schools, colleges, or junior colleges, for up to four years of undergraduate study.
$1,000 scholarships are granted on a yearly basis prior to the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years and are renewable each year. Payment is made directly to the educational institution.
How does my child apply?
Applicants are required to submit an application, school report which should include a transcript and SAT or ACT scores, FAFSA, and a personal statement. All information must be submitted online.
Requirements for the Binswanger Enterprises Scholarship
- Complete the form below.
- Have the School Report completed by an official at your PRESENT school, or your most recent school if you are not currently enrolled. It is your responsibility to follow up with the educational institution to be certain their forms are submitted by the deadline. Click here for the School Report form.
- Be certain that the school also attaches a transcript of your grades for the CURRENT ACADEMIC YEAR of high school or college, even if the transcript covers only the fall semester. We must have your most recent grades. If you are not currently enrolled, the transcript must cover at least the last year you were enrolled in school.
- Submit a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information, which you will receive when you complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Note: The FAFSA is available at libraries, colleges, universities, and online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You should fill out the FAFSA and submit your information after January 1, but before mid-February. You will receive the SAR approximately four weeks after you file your FAFSA.
- Applications cannot be considered unless all forms – including ACT or SAT scores, personal statement, and FAFSA information – are completed and received by the deadline, April 3.
Applications for this scholarship are due April 3, 2017.
