March 13, 2020 Statement

(Mar. 13, 2020) As novel Coronavirus developments continue to unfold, the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis is monitoring the situation and has implemented a set of practices and precautions in order to safeguard the wellbeing of our staff and stakeholders.

  • The Community Foundation office remains open, with remote access capabilities offered to the staff members who are homebound due to school closures or preventative self-isolation, should that become necessary. We have instituted more stringent sanitization protocols for both staff and our nightly professional cleaning service.

As our business operations continue, you can rely on timely service in processing contributions to funds and grant requests.
  • In an abundance of caution and in adherence to recommended social distancing, we are cancelling all nonprofit meetings scheduled in our Community Room through March 31, 2020. Our staff will work with the nonprofit groups who have reserved the room to determine mutually acceptable rescheduled meeting dates, if they so desire.

We will make a determination on whether to postpone the March 31 In the Absence Movie Screening and Q&A by Tuesday, March 17. We will follow up with additional information as soon as it is available.
  • In this time of market volatility, we—along with our experienced investment committee and investment consultant Gerber/Taylor Associates, Inc.—are carefully monitoring our investments. Fundholders and representatives of the nonprofits that co-invest with us are invite to our annual Investment Update on Thursday, April 9. If you have specific questions in the meantime, email Director of Donor Services Amy Beth Dudley or call her at (901) 722-0038.
  • Nonprofits across our community are already feeling the effects of the Coronavirus threat, with health concerns and school closings impacting our vulnerable populations. We encourage you to contribute to local nonprofits that are experiencing interruptions to their services and those that support our community and fellow Mid-Southerners in time of need.
