Not only is small business the lifeblood of our local economy, but many local business leaders and entrepreneurs show a tremendous commitment to supporting charitable causes and engaging their employees in making Memphis and the Mid-South a more vibrant place.
On Jan. 31, 2019, The Daily Memphian presented a panel discussion exploring both the landscape of small business giving and the power of philanthropy to shape a company culture, to involve the next generation in a family business, and to inspire giving and community involvement among employees.
The event featured Bob Fockler, president of Community Foundation of Greater Memphis; Martha Pitts and Laurie (Pitts) Yarbrough, Power & Tel; Cindy Brewer, co-founder and principal of LEO Events, and J.W. Gibson, chairman and CEO of Gibson Companies, Inc.
