Collaborative nonprofits will vie for $62,600 in GiVE 365 grants
MEMPHIS, TENN. (July 31, 2014) – GiVE 365 members will hear from nonprofits about ways they are working together on a project or program benefiting the community at The Finals event from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, at Hattiloo Theatre, 37 S. Cooper St. Applicants are competing for $62,600 in grant awards in this year’s GiVE 365 cycle.
The theme for this year’s grants, as voted on by the GiVE 365 membership, is “Collaboration for Change: partnerships that support innovative problem-solving in the community.” During the fun and fast-paced members-only Finals event, each lead applicant will have just three minutes to make a pitch, in hopes of being awarded a grant. After hearing the pitches, GiVE 365 members will vote online; this year’s grants will be announced on Sept. 11.
Formed in 2010, GiVE 365 unites and informs emerging philanthropists to make a collective impact on Greater Memphis. Members donate $365 a year, pool their money with others, and vote on both an annual grant making theme and grant recipients. GiVE 365 hosts social and educational events and gives members the chance to actively participate in the grant making process. Volunteer grant review teams read applications and narrow down the list to finalists.
When these grants are announced in September, GiVE 365 members will have distributed nearly $286,000 in less than five years. In addition to the grant pool, GiVE 365 has grown its endowment to nearly $360,000. Membership currently stands at more than 250 individuals, couples, families, and businesses.
