A community foundation is a philanthropic organization that manages charitable funds with a broad base of donors to benefit a specific geographic area—in our case, West Tennessee, eastern Arkansas, and northern Mississippi.
Founded in 1969, the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis brings a half-century of experience and expertise, working with donors, professional advisors, and nonprofits to help strengthen our community through strategic philanthropy and community giving. Together, we have built a trusted resource where giving does more good.
The mission of the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis is to strengthen our community through philanthropy.
We manage 1,200 charitable funds, established by individuals, families, and organizations. Most grants to the community are advised—or directed—by the donors who created these funds.
With the support of donors, we award grants to nonprofits through competitive application processes. We invest in initiatives that improve our communities and the agencies that serve them.
We offer a fun, fulfilling dollar-a-day membership that lets you come together with other members and make a positive impact on our community through grants to nonprofits.
