Hutchison Community Service Endowment Fund

Philanthropy begins early for Hutchison girls. Its Hutchison Leads Philanthropic Literacy Board, made up of senior student leaders, manages a thorough grant making process each year to address a compelling community need. Dollars raised by students build the Hutchison Community Service Endowment Fund, with the interest granted to nonprofits that are advancing Memphis. In eight years, students have awarded $21,000.

“They’re learning the process of being philanthropic, and that’s something that will stay with them the rest of their lives,” says Kathryn Jasper, Hutchison Leads director. “These girls will sit on boards. They will give grants in the future. The process we’re going through is very real and will teach them skills that they will use.”
