Collierville Citizens Police Association

LIVEGIVEmidsouth, our community information system, is proving to be a valuable resource for emerging nonprofit organizations. Building a profile on helps a nonprofit better tell its story to potential donors, be transparent in its reporting, meet a critical eligibility criterion for several local grantmaking foundations, and receive donations through the site.

The Collierville Citizens Police Association (CCPA) is one organization that has seen its capacity expand through its participation on Founded in 2002, CCPA is an all-volunteer, community based, citizen supported nonprofit. Its mission is to encourage positive citizen involvement with Collierville Police Department (CPD) officers and staff.

In 2016, CCPA applied for its first-ever grant from the Collierville Community Fund. That fund, managed by the Community Foundation, annually awards grants to nonprofit organizations benefiting Collierville area residents. Like many local grantmakers, the Collierville Community Fund requires that nonprofits have built a profile in order to be eligible for grants. Not only did CCPA receive a $5,300 grant, it has seen continued donations from supporters through the online giving portal that is part of WHEREtoGIVEmidsouth.

“The CCPA is a very small, focused nonprofit. We exist solely to support the Collierville Police Department Community Engagement and Training,” says Lee Race, CCPA board member. “Completing the profile was not difficult, and it assisted us in a successful grant request. Since we do not have an office, paid staff, website, or online donation capabilities, our public face is almost entirely the profile. This is a valuable resource for us, and we appreciate the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis engaging the community with a wide range of nonprofit organizations.”
