2018 was quite a year, with a new record for grants to the community from the Community Foundation.

Just last year:

  • Donors gave the Foundation $161.1 MILLION in gifts
  • The Community Foundation & donors awarded $147.6 MILLION to nonprofits in grants
  • 6,733 GRANTS awarded to 1,864 DISTINCT NONPROFITS

MLK50 Next Step grant recipients discuss how they are changing Memphis

(Apr. 16, 2019) The Daily Memphian reports on the impact to date of nonprofits awarded $25,000 each to drive Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s social justice platform in our MLK50: The Next Step Forward grant program.

Change in the Community Foundation’s Grant Due Diligence Policy

(Mar. 28, 2019) In response to a small but growing national controversy around the funding of hate groups through donor-advised and similar funds, the Board of Governors has voted to amend the Foundation’s Grant Due Diligence Policy to prohibit grantmaking to recognized hate groups.
