The Community Foundation of Greater Memphis exists by raising funds for charitable purposes, and making grants to nonprofit organizations that help improve the quality of life in our community.
Our mission - to strengthen the community through philanthropy - is achievable only through the generosity of our donors.
We work with you and your family, along with your attorneys, estate planners and financial advisors to ensure that you receive the most benefit from your charitable gifts and that your philanthropic dollars are wisely used.
The Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, one of almost 700 community foundations in the United States, was founded in 1969 by a group of business leaders. Since that time, we have awarded more than $375 million in grants.
Today, the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis:
- Manages assets of more than $300 million.
- Houses and maintains more than 950 charitable funds.
- Makes nearly 6,400 grants annually to 1,600 charitable organizations.
- Through the Community Partnership Fund, supports initiatives and good work in the arts, education, the environment, animal welfare, health services and research, mental health, community building, hunger and shelter, disaster relief, youth, human services, philanthropy and religious institutions.
