GiVE 365 Grants

In its first three years, the members of GiVE 365 have granted nearly $135,000 to 23 Memphis-area nonprofits.

The GiVE 365 process

In early summer, the members of GiVE 365 select a theme for that year’s grantmaking process.  The 2010 theme was Fostering Community. The 2011 theme was Fishing Lessons, based on the adage that if you “teach a man to fish; you feed him for a lifetime”. In 2012, the members selected Eyes on the Prize, to support organizations helping people graduate from high school or college. Grants are awarded each fall to nonprofit organizations that submit proposals consistent with that theme.

Here are the steps for soliciting proposals from nonprofit organizations, and selecting the final recipients of GiVE 365 grants.

  • Members submit ideas online for a theme.
  • Steering Committee narrows down the theme ideas to several finalists, and presents them to the membership.
  • Members vote online for that year's theme.
  • Nonprofits are invited to submit proposals for grants based on that theme.
  • Grant committees made up of members review all proposals and select finalists. All members are welcome to join a grant committee, and will be trained on how to evaluate proposals. Please contact Ashley Harper if you would like to participate.
  • Finalists present their proposals to the members at a live event.
  • Members vote online to rank their top proposals.
  • The grant committee meets again to finalize the recipients.
  • Recipients are announced.

As a member of GiVE 365, you can participate in the grantmaking process at the level you choose. Some members enjoy reviewing and discussing proposals together or hearing directly from the nonprofits seeking funding. Other members prefer to participate entirely online. The choice is yours.

If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to contact Ashley.
