Seven years ago, my family and I moved from Detroit to Memphis where I am an educator with Memphis City Schools. I am a mother to two teenage sons and two furry cats, all of whom I love, love, love! One of our favorite places to hang out is AutoZone Park. It’s such a beautiful stadium, full of excitement and energy! 

I learned about GiVE 365 while browsing through my friend’s list of Twitter followers. There were several local organizations posted that I didn’t know existed and I wanted to learn more about the events and activities happening in Memphis. After several weeks of reading tweets by GiVE 365, I decided that this was an organization that I wanted to connect with in a larger way. 

Volunteerism is something my parents encouraged in me. While we didn’t always have money to give, we did have our time. I try to instill that same spirit of giving in my children. When my youngest son began volunteering at the Humane Society, a decision he made on his own, his choice to offer his time motivated me to get active and get moving!
