Chip and Stephanie Chockley

Tell us a little about yourselves.

Chip is an attorney and Stephanie works in development at Rhodes College. We have a four-year-old daughter, an almost-seven-year old son, a cat and a dog. We are proud products of the Memphis education system. Chip attended Campus School, White Station, a year at Rhodes, then finished his undergraduate and law degrees at Memphis. Stephanie went to Ridgeway and Rhodes. Their son currently attends Snowden, and their daughter can't wait until it's her turn to join her brother.

How long have you been Memphians?

Stephanie's family moved to Memphis when she was five and has been here ever since. Chip started life in Middle Tennessee, then came to Memphis when he was six. His family moved back to Nashville for his senior year in high school, but Chip returned immediately for college and never left.

Why did you join GiVE 365?

We think Memphis is a fantastic city, and one of the things that makes it so extraordinary is the sense of community we feel at every turn. The idea of working with that community of people to make Memphis even better is an opportunity we couldn't turn down.

What’s your favorite place to have lunch?

Chip would eat at Elliot's in downtown Memphis every day if given the chance. Stephanie loves food too much to answer this question- it's like picking which child she likes best!

Who do you think is doing exceptional work in Memphis?

Project Greenfork is doing great work. Stacey Greenberg does a great job keeping the Memphis community connected, constantly coming up with ideas of ways to improve Memphis and bringing together the right people to make her projects thrive. We are  particularly fans of her work with Memphis Rock-n-Romp. Chip has been on the Rock-n-Romp board since its inception, but it never would have come about without Stacey's enthusiasm and dedication, as well as her ability to gather the perfect mix of people to get the job done.

Favorite Superhero?

Chip loves Superman like he's a member of the family. Stephanie is a big fan of the Flash - she envies him for not having to spend half his day in the car!
